Freecom XS 3.0 Hard Drive with USB 3.0

The USB 3.0 ball has started rolling more that a year ago, and finally, after so much waiting and reading about its SuperSpeed technology that will bless on all of us some day, we finally have it dated for November. In five or six weeks from now, Freecom will put its Hard Drive XS 3.0 on sale. Its an external HDD and the key feature is USB 3.0, of course.

Introducing USB 3.0 to a external hard drive removes the bottleneck effect completely. The port itself will transfer 130MBps, which is bang on what most of home used 10,000rpm hard drives deliver. So, if we think of HDD versus SSD technology face-off in an external storage device realm, it might appear that you are not spoiled for choice and buy a cheaper and bigger hard drive. But will see considerable difference between them in writing speeds. So choose carefully. And, oh yeah, almost forgot, external USB 3.0 SSDs are not yet produced, but one day they will, right?

Back to Freecom Hard Drive XS 3.0 coming in November, it will be available starting with 1TB, 1.5TB and top model will have 2TB on board. Prices start with 119 EUR for 1TB.
